I don't know when it will be ready for a release. The goal is to simply replace the most offensive low-res HUD textures that don't look good next to all the upscaled 3D elements with new hand-drawn ones. There was only one other texture that had the same issue and it was a small scrolling arrow in the Prime 3 menu.īelow are some sneak peaks of the pack for anyone's that is interested. From the GameCube version of the game.Follow me on Twitter. To get it to work I had to set the transparency of the textures to 100% and then export the images as a PNG with a 32 bit depth so the numbers and background still exist in the texture despite being completely invisible. We play though Metroid Prime with a new HD Texture Mod installed for Dolphin. Shoichi said: maybe im remembering wrong, but I believe this Remaster is was done by Retro and is what is rumored to have given Nintendo the confidence to take over the Metroid Prime 4 development after the development issues prior. The issue is that unlike the Prime 2/3 HP textures the P1 textures can't simply be upscaled and then replaced without altering the alpha masks as well. Over the past few weeks I have been continuing work on my Trilogy HD Interface texture pack (that I linked above) while re-playing the game and when it was time to do the Prime 1 HP numbers today I faced the same issue. SirMangler Unregistered PrimeHack is a specialised build of Dolphin authored by Shiiion that introduces traditional first person shooter aiming and controls to the Metroid Prime games, with the goal of making the game play and feel like a native PC game. If you want to preload, I suggest moving the folders for the games you're not planning on playing into the Load parent folder, where they won't be touched. Also, thanks to using DDS, Preload Custom Textures is not necessary, and indeed not possible if you don't have at least 12 GB of RAM on your computer. They also contain embedded mipmaps, it cuts down on the file count. Even after weeding out all of the obviously junk images (and let me tell you, there were TONS of them), and the mips I didn't need to upscale (since we have a tool on the forum that automatically puts mipmaps into DDS files), there are still almost 25k textures that were upscaled, including font textures (15k in MP3 alone).Īs mentioned already, these are DDS files, but I compared to the PNGs myself, and there was virtually no quality loss. But the 4x upscales with Gigapixel are all done, and it still looks fantastic, even without the manual touch-up. I fully plan on going through and touching up as many textures as I can. This is just a rough first draft, really. And since the work was done, I figured I'd share. However, shortly after that, I found TopazLabs' Gigapixel AI, and man, what a difference. I initially tried ESRGAN, but quickly lost heart because it just couldn't live up to my standards of quality. Went searching, no one's done the Trilogy yet.
